We’ve been running animal sculpture workshops near my studio in Devon for some time now. They have always attracted a wide range of abilities, from complete novices to experienced amateurs. Most come on their own, some come with a friend or family member. But we are united by our love of animals and our art, whether it be a casual interest or a life-long passion.
I never in my wildest of dreams thought I could actually do something like this.
There’s something special about being fully immersed in the creative process for an extended period. The progress students can make over the course of an intensive three-day workshop is nothing short of transformational. You’ll develop observational skills, learn how to relate to your subjects and acquire the practical skills you need to bring your artistic vision to life.
You really are an incredible teacher and I feel so blessed to have been able to do a workshop with you.
I start all my animal sculpture workshops with a slideshow presentation introducing my work, my background and influences. This is followed by a demo where I introduce basic techniques and the building methods we’ll be using throughout the workshop. As our work progresses over the course of the next three days, I introduce more advanced modelling techniques to help students refine their work. I’m always on hand to provide a mix of group and one-to-one support and instruction.
You are an amazing teacher, Nick, and it is little wonder that your students produce such gorgeous works.
All our UK-based animal sculpture workshops include the opportunity to visit my studio, just down the road from the workshop venue. I also offer a simple glazing and firing service for those students without access to their own equipment. Check out the images here to see what our 2023 group managed to produce.
I just wanted to message to say again how much I enjoyed this week. I genuinely feel like it has been a turning point in my life.
If you’d like to join one of our UK-based animal sculpture workshops, we’re taking bookings now for 2024.
