I can see why lions are firm favourites with the public. These charismatic cats have it all; cute and cuddly from one angle and clever killers from another. Lions have such aesthetically pleasing and clean body shapes. I therefore decided my next bronze animal sculpture should be a lion cub.
I’ve encountered a number of lion cubs on my regular visits to Africa. They’re great fun to watch because they’re always up for a game with their siblings/cousins and are interested in everything around them. I chose to make this little lion cub looking up with real intent. He’s deciding whether to spring up and pounce or not (is it a bird or a butterfly that has grabbed his attention?). He has the chunky paws and the large ears of a youngster, but his eyes give away the fact that he’s a predator.
This bronze lion cub sculpture has a traditional brown patina, which gives the surface real depth. It is released in a limited edition of nine. Please contact me for more information or to request high resolution photographs.
