I’m delighted to announce that both my entries to this year’s Wildlife Artist of the Year competition have been short-listed and will be appearing in the exhibition at the Mall Galleries, London 3-7 June 2014.

On my recent Zambia trip we were treated to two painted dog sightings and one of those encounters was watching them hunting impala. Springing out from nowhere a pack of eight wild dogs sprinted after and swiftly dispatched two impala calves. Within minutes the impala calves were consumed and high spirits were clear to see.

Two wild dogs had a very lively play until one dog decided it was getting too rough and disengaged with a classic expression of appeasement. The other wild dog lowered his head and looked on sheepishly, he understood the Time Out.
